Clay Childress is a tax attorney dedicated to delivering strategic, detail-driven counsel across state and local tax disputes, federal tax controversies, and estate planning matters. Clay holds an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, the nation’s premier graduate tax program. He earned his J.D. with Honors from Emory University School of Law, where he distinguished himself in advanced tax and advocacy work, and he graduated from Georgia State University with Honors and Advanced Honors.

Clay’s practice includes representing clients in state and local tax (SALT) controversies, including nexus disputes, audit defense, appeals, business structuring, and tax-efficient expansion strategies. He also assists clients facing federal tax examinations, collection actions, offers-in-compromise, penalty abatement, and other IRS controversies, providing experienced guidance in high-stakes matters where finances, compliance, and reputation are on the line.

In addition to his tax controversy practice, Clay advises clients in wills, trusts, estate planning, and estate administration, ensuring that individuals and families preserve wealth, protect assets, and plan for generational continuity with confidence and precision.
